Michelle is an experienced Marketer with a demonstrated history of working in the advertising industry. Skilled in Integrated Marketing, Advertising, Editing, Television, and Leadership. Strong business development professional with a BA focused in Communications Minor: Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Now Michelle has combined her passion and skill set to create a platform for Black owned business at theBOM aka the Black-Owned Market.
Yemmie, the founder of Moods by Yemmie, is an engineer turned candle maker. She’s always been slightly obsessed with good smelling candles and setting the mood when entertaining friends or working from home. She launched Moods by Yemmie during the 2020 quarantine and has since been featured in NY Mag and her candles can be found in multiple shops within NYC. When Yemmie’s not making candles or dreaming up new scent combos, she can be found reading books, doing yoga in the park, or sipping some Cabernet with her friends.
Maurice, a health educator and Screen Actors Guild member, started his baking business after his mother’s passing. During the holiday season he was inspired to bake his mothers recipes. He settled on chocolate chip cookies, took a deep dive into a business course for entrepreneurship and created my own brand of chocolate chip cookies - Miss Myrtle's Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Founded in July 2020 in East Harlem, NYC, Bag Shop NYC is a Black Woman/Latino owned brand who believes that making the switch to reusable bags should be easy, accessible, and affordable. Inspired by iconic New York City imagery, founders Aisha and Jose aim to inspire their community to make the permanent switch to reusable bags. It is their hope that they will make a difference one reusable bag at a time!
